Firmly

Terms of Use

Effective date: September 6, 2026

These are the rules for using Firmly. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past. By downloading or using the app you agree to them.

Firmly is made and published by Martin Haindl (Haindl Apps). If anything here is unclear, write to hello@haindlapps.com and ask.

What Firmly is

Firmly is a practice tool. You pick a hard conversation, such as pushing back on a boss or giving difficult feedback, and you rehearse it out loud or in writing with an AI character. Afterward, an AI writes you a report on how you came across.

Everyone you talk to in Firmly is an AI character. They are written characters played by a language model, not real people, not recordings of real people, and not anyone you know. Their names, faces and backgrounds are invented.

Firmly is not professional advice

Firmly is not legal advice, HR advice, medical advice, therapy or counseling, and using it does not create any professional relationship. The characters push back on purpose, and the feedback reports are one AI's reading of one conversation. They can be wrong. What you decide to say in your real conversation, and what follows from it, is yours.

Firmly is also not a crisis service. If you are in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line, not this app.

Who can use Firmly

Firmly is rated 13+ and is built for working adults. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you are under the age where you can agree to terms like these on your own, a parent or guardian has to agree for you.

Your account

Firmly does not ask you to sign up. The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically so it can keep track of your practice history and your subscription. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Because there is no login, your practice history lives with your device. We cannot restore it for you if you lose the device, and we cannot move it to a new one.

Subscriptions and payment

Part of Firmly is free, and the rest is a subscription called Firmly Premium.

What is free

What Premium adds

A voice session counts once its feedback report is ready, and to keep that fair, only the first three sessions per period that end without a report stay uncounted, while any further one counts like a full session.

That is the whole difference. Every scenario, every character, every difficulty level and describing a conversation of your own are open to everyone.

Plans and prices

Firmly Premium Monthly
$19.99 per month. No free trial. Renews every month.

Firmly Premium Yearly
$89.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Renews every year.

Prices are in US dollars and apply to the United States App Store. In other countries Apple charges the equivalent local price, which can differ. The exact price you will pay is always shown in the app before you confirm.

The free trial

The 7-day free trial comes with the yearly plan and gives you the full Premium allowance for the trial week: 10 voice sessions plus unlimited text practice. When the trial ends, billing starts and a fresh monthly pool of 10 voice sessions begins. Apple allows one introductory offer per customer, so if you have used a Firmly trial before, you will not be offered another one.

You can cancel during the trial and pay nothing. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the trial ends, the first year may still be charged. If you buy a subscription while a free trial is still running, the unused part of the trial is forfeited.

How billing works

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple and not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly, but if something in Firmly went wrong for you, tell us at hello@haindlapps.com and we will help where we can.

If prices or limits change

We may change prices or what a plan includes. If we do, the change applies to future renewals, never retroactively, and Apple will tell you about a price increase and ask you to confirm before it takes effect. You can always cancel instead.

Access codes

Now and then we hand out access codes, for example to the judges of a competition. A code unlocks Premium for a limited time without a purchase. Codes are personal, cannot be sold or transferred, and can be withdrawn if they are misused.

Using Firmly properly

Firmly is for your personal use. When you use it, you agree not to:

Situations you type yourself are checked automatically before a session begins, and a small number are refused. If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may limit or end your access.

Content and ownership

What you say and type stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to process your input so a character can answer, and to generate your feedback report. How that works technically, and who processes what, is in the Privacy Policy.

Your feedback reports are generated for you and are yours to keep, use and share.

Firmly itself stays ours: the app, the characters, their names and portraits, the scenarios, the artwork, the text and the name Firmly. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. Nothing here transfers ownership.

AI has limits

Firmly's characters and its feedback reports are produced by AI models. AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or simply off. A character may misjudge a moment. A report may read a line more harshly or more kindly than a real person would. Treat the feedback as one perspective to train against, not as a verdict, and use your own judgment in the real conversation.

Availability

We try to keep Firmly running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or error free. Live conversations depend on third-party AI providers, and their outages become ours. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may end the service entirely. If we discontinue a paid service, you will not be charged for periods after it stops.

Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting the app. Deleting your data in Settings clears everything we hold, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms.

Warranties and liability

Firmly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted, or that AI output will be accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the outcome of any real conversation you have. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for Firmly in the 12 months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Apple's role

Firmly is distributed through the App Store, so a few things follow from Apple's rules:

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the effective date at the top changes, and continuing to use Firmly after that means you accept the updated version. If a change is significant, we will point it out inside the app.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Austria, without its conflict of law rules and without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and nothing here takes that away from you.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If something goes wrong, write to us first. We answer.

Odds and ends

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Firmly.
